If you’ve ever been served your morning coffee by Martice Scales at Downtown Racine’s Cup of Hope coffee shop, you may remember the young man’s welcoming smile and friendly disposition, along with his responsible way of doing business. Such qualities are things that even Scales might not have seen in himself several years ago after losing his struggle to stay in college, due to a lack of funds.
